> 2018 Symposium > About

South Korea is the first nation to evolve from an ODA recipient to a major donor country. After joining a member of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of OECD in 2010, South Korea serves a bridging role in the international community and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) based on its increased ODA support.

As the importance of science and technology is emphasized in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), the demand for science and technology related development cooperation is increasing. Developing and promoting STI capabilities of developing countries is a key to inclusive growth at the global level.

STEPI hosts "2018 STEPI International Symposium" under the theme of "The role of Korea in global development cooperation: science, technology and innovation" to share its experience of playing a leading role in STI development cooperation. Taking advantage of its capabilities specialized in science and technology policy, STEPI aspires to present strategy in development cooperation in STI and define South Korea's role. We look forward to your active participation and support.
