Kuniko Urashima is currently Unit Manager of Foresight Centre and researcher at Toshiba Co. Ltd in National Institute of Science and Technology Policy. She taught as visiting Lecturer in Doshisha University (Kyoto), Kyushu University (Fukuoka), Ochanomizu University (Tokyo), Nihon University (Tokyo), The open University of Japan (Tokyo), Hiroshima Institute of Technology (Hiroshima), and as a visiting Professor in Nagoya University (Aichi), Tohoku University (Miyagi), Iwate University (Iwate), and Gifu University (Gifu). She has been working as advisor in Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industries (METI), Ministry of Environment (MOE), Aomori Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Yokohama National University, and so forth.

She also has overseas professional experiences: she worked as Senior Research Associate at McMaster University (Canada), as Visiting Scientist at Ford Motor Company (US) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (US), and taught as Visiting Associate Professor at Poitiers University (France) and McMaster University (Canada). She had been an Advisor for Higher School of Economy (Russia), Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (ASEAN), NISTPASS (Vietnam), The Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Centre (Taiwan) and so on.

She holds B.S. (Chemistry), Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo, Japan, MS. and Ph.D. (Electrical Eng.), Musashi Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan.
